Ochratoxin A
Colloidal Gold · Food Safety · OTA II
Ochratoxins are groups of mycotoxin and secondary metabolites produced by fungi of the genus Aspergillus species and Penicillium species. Ochratoxin A is commonly found in dried dietary foods during the storage period especially under a warm and wet condition. Ochratoxin A was indicated to be harmful for multiple animal species. Consumption of food containing ochratoxins may lead to acute kidney failure in humans and animals. If continuously consumed food contaminated by ochratoxins, the toxins can accumulate in human organs and cause chronic kidney diseases or life-threatening diseases.

Ochratoxin A SUMMARY
Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin belonging to the ochratoxin group, commonly produced by various species of Aspergillus and Penicillium fungi. It contaminates a wide range of agricultural products, including cereals, coffee beans, grapes, and dried fruits. Ochratoxin A can also be found in animal-derived products such as meat, milk, and eggs, as animals can accumulate the toxin through contaminated feed. Consumption of ochratoxin A-contaminated food can pose serious health risks, including nephrotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, immunosuppression, and potential carcinogenic effects. Therefore, rigorous monitoring and control of ochratoxin A contamination in food and feed are essential to ensure food safety and protect public health.
Ochratoxin A is also present in animal-derived products like meat, milk, and eggs, as animals can ingest the toxin through contaminated feed, leading to its accumulation.
Ochratoxin A PRINCIPLES
Antibody-Colloidal Gold Conjugate
OTA-BSA conjugate antigen and goat anti mouse IgG are coated and immobilized on a reaction membrane.
Bioartron Ochratoxin A (OTA) Rapid Test kit contains monoclonal anti-OTA antibody-colloidal gold conjugate deposited and pre-dried on conjugate pad. OTA-BSA conjugate antigen (on test zone) and goat anti mouse IgG (on control zone) are coated and immobilized on a reaction membrane.
The principal of Bioartron Ochratoxin A (OTA) Rapid Test is a solid phase, competitive inhibition immuno-chromatographic assay, in which OTA-BSA competes with OTA that may be present in sample extraction solution, for limited antibody binding sites. When the absorbent pad (sample end) is soaked with the solution, the solution will migrate via capillary action toward the test window where the test reaction occurs.
