Vomitoxin

Colloidal Gold      ·   Food Safety        ·      DON

"Vomitoxin, also known as deoxynivalenol (DON), is a mycotoxin produced by various Fusarium fungi species, primarily Fusarium graminearum and Fusarium culmorum. It commonly contaminates cereal grains such as wheat, barley, and corn, posing risks to human and animal health. Livestock consuming feed contaminated with vomitoxin can excrete it in milk and dairy products."

Vomitoxin (DON) Rapid Test Kit is an immunochromatographic assay adopting lateral flow technology and is designed for the qualitative detection of vomitoxin (DON) in grains, cooking oil and animal feeds at or above the cutoff level of 200-2,000 ppb (μg/kg).

Ultra Sensitive

Detect target molecules at ultra-low concentrations using colloidal gold nanoparticles.

High Specificity

Engineered for precise interactions, our assays minimize false positives for accurate diagnostics.

Instant Reaction

With rapid colorimetric response, results are delivered swiftly, enabling prompt interventions.

Vomitoxin (DON) SUMMARY

Vomitoxin, also known as deoxynivalenol (DON), belongs to trichothecenes, which is produced by fusarium graminearum. Vomitoxin is commonly found from grain seeds such as wheat, barley and corn. It is one of the most common contaminants of grain and a potential marker for the existence of other mycotoxins.

The presence of vomitoxin is threatening the health of humans and animals since it has strong toxicity to cells and is immunosuppressive. Continuous exposure to even low levels of vomitoxin can cause weight loss, damage to the gastro-intestinal tract and the immune system.

Vomitoxin is commonly found from grain seeds such as wheat, barley and corn.

Vomitoxin (DON) PRINCIPLES

Antibody-Colloidal Gold Conjugate

AFT B1-BSA conjugate antigen  and goat anti mouse IgG are coated and immobilized on a reaction membrane.

Bioartron Vomitoxin (DON) Rapid Test kit contains monoclonal anti-DON antibody-colloidal gold conjugate deposited and pre-dried in the microwell.  DON-BSA conjugate antigen (on test zone) and goat anti mouse IgG (on control zone) are coated and immobilized on a reaction membrane.

The principal of the Vomitoxin (DON) Rapid Test is a solid phase, competitive inhibition immuno-chromatographic assay, in which DON-BSA competes with DON that may be present in sample extraction solution, for limited antibody binding sites. When the absorbent pad (sample end) is soaked with the solution, the solution will migrate via capillary action toward the test observation area where the test reaction occurs.
